Overview
SHAKEN/STIR is a set of protocols designed to authenticate caller ID information and verify that it is coming from a legitimate source. It uses digital certificates to validate your ownership of the phone number, ensuring carriers can trust that your calls are genuine.
When enabled, your calls are more likely to display as a “Trusted Call”, improving the chance that recipients pick up.

Why SHAKEN/STIR Matters
Boosts call completion and answer rates
Helps prevent caller ID spoofing and fraud
May display a “Trusted Call” label on outgoing calls
Does not remove nuisance labels
Requirements
An EIN (Employer Identification Number) is mandatory for SHAKEN/STIR registration.
If you don’t have an EIN, we recommend registering your number with the Free call registry instead.
How to Enable SHAKEN/STIR
If you already registered for A2P SMS:
Your phone numbers are automatically enrolled in SHAKEN/STIR.
This applies to all new A2P applications submitted after April 23, 2025, and older sub-accounts are also being updated automatically.

If you have not registered for A2P SMS:
You can manually enable SHAKEN/STIR for your numbers now from trust centre

| SHAKEN/STIR | Authenticates your caller ID using digital certificates | Increases trust, improves answer rates, prevents spoofing |
Note: SHAKEN/STIR won't remove nuisance labels but may boost answer rates due to the "Trusted Call" label.
Tip: SHAKEN/STIR works best when combined with CNAM registration, which displays your business name alongside your number.
Need Help?
If SHAKEN/STIR registration is not completing, your numbers are not showing as authenticated, or calls are not displaying as trusted, first review your business information and registration status.
Verify that:
- Your business has a valid EIN.
- The legal business name and EIN match official records.
- The correct phone numbers are associated with the account.
- SHAKEN/STIR registration has been completed successfully.
- If you recently completed A2P registration, enough time has passed for automatic SHAKEN/STIR enrollment to update.
- If automatic enrollment is not available, SHAKEN/STIR was enabled manually from the Trust Center.
- The phone numbers are active and eligible for caller authentication.
- Your caller ID information is accurate and consistent.
- CNAM registration is configured if you also want your business name displayed.
- The issue is not a spam or nuisance label, since SHAKEN/STIR authentication does not control spam reputation.
If registration is approved but the trusted indicator is not appearing, keep in mind that display behavior can vary by carrier and device.
If the issue continues, collect the affected phone number, SHAKEN/STIR status, EIN verification status, A2P registration status if applicable, and screenshots of the registration or call display before contacting support.
