CNAM (Caller Name Presentation) is a feature in the U.S. public telephone network that associates your phone number with a business or personal name. When you make an outgoing call, this name may be displayed on the recipient’s device.
Why CNAM Matters
Builds trust with your contacts
Increases the chance that calls are answered
Does not remove nuisance labels
Business name display is not guaranteed (depends on the recipient’s carrier policies)
Requirements
An EIN (Employer Identification Number) is mandatory for CNAM registration.
Both sole proprietors and larger businesses with an EIN can register.
How to Register or Update CNAM
You can register or update your CNAM records directly from the Trust Center—no need to go through your carrier.
Steps:
Go to sub-account Settings > Phone Numbers > Trust Center.
Click on CNAM (voice)
start registering

Benefits at a Glance
| Feature | What It Does | Benefit to You |
|---|---|---|
| CNAM | Displays your business name on outgoing calls | Improves recognition and trust, leading to higher answer rates |
Note: CNAM doesn't remove nuisance labels, but accurate caller information can enhance answer rates.Ensure your number correctly displays your business name on the caller ID.
Work with your carrier to register or update your CNAM records.
Tip: CNAM does not replace SHAKEN/STIR. For best results, use both together—SHAKEN/STIR authenticates your caller ID, while CNAM displays your business name.
Need Help?
If your CNAM registration is not completing, your business name is not displaying correctly, or an update is not appearing as expected, first review the registration details and caller ID setup.
Verify that:
- Your business has a valid EIN.
- The legal business information entered during registration is accurate and current.
- The correct U.S. phone number is included in the CNAM registration.
- The caller name is spelled correctly and represents your business accurately.
- The registration has been submitted successfully through the Trust Center.
- Enough time has passed for carrier and caller-name databases to process the new or updated information.
- The recipient's carrier and service plan support CNAM display.
- The recipient does not already have a different name saved for your number in their contacts.
- SHAKEN/STIR is configured separately if you also want caller authentication.
- The issue is not a Spam Likely or nuisance label, since CNAM does not control caller reputation or spam classification.
Keep in mind that CNAM registration does not guarantee your business name will appear on every call. Display behavior depends on the receiving carrier, device, and caller ID services available to the recipient.
If the issue continues, collect the affected phone number, registered caller name, CNAM status, approximate submission or update date, and examples or screenshots showing the incorrect or missing caller name before contacting support.
