SMS Messaging Compliance

Pre-Built A2P Campaign (Widget-First) Registration Flow

Register compliant SMS campaigns in minutes with auto-generated chat widgets, locked carrier-approved disclosures, and guided setup that eliminates rejection risks.
What You'll Learn

This article walks you through LeadConnector's new pre-built A2P campaign registration flow that bundles a compliant chat widget with carrier-safe consent language and prevents common configuration errors.

You'll discover how this widget-first approach reduces approval times, eliminates manual disclosure writing, and ensures your SMS campaigns meet carrier requirements from day one.

1

What is the Pre-Built A2P Campaign Flow?

The pre-built A2P campaign flow is a guided registration experience that combines an auto-generated, carrier-compliant chat widget with locked consent language and a short questionnaire. This approach removes manual disclosure writing and prevents the configuration mistakes that typically delay or derail SMS campaign approvals.

Unlike the self-serve registration option where you can edit every field, this widget-first flow locks all compliance-sensitive elements to guarantee that what carriers review matches exactly what goes live on your website. The system generates your opt-in widget, injects your business name into disclosures, and includes all required STOP/HELP language automatically.

The flow is optimized for single-purpose campaigns — either Marketing/Promotional or Informational/Non-Marketing. Mixed-use-case and sole-proprietor campaigns require the self-serve registration flow.

2

Key Benefits

Choosing the pre-built campaign flow delivers several advantages over traditional manual registration:

Faster carrier approvals — Pre-written, carrier-safe language eliminates the review cycles caused by custom disclosures.
Lower rejection rates — The system blocks conflicting selections (like financial content paired with marketing messages) before you submit.
Automatic age-gating compliance — When you select age-restricted or loan-related content, a mandatory Date of Birth field is added to your widget.
Zero manual disclaimer writing — Sample messages, opt-in disclosures, and STOP/HELP instructions are generated for you.
Self-serve option still available — Teams managing complex or multi-purpose campaigns can continue using the fully editable registration flow.
3

Simplified Messaging Use Case Selection

The widget-first flow requires you to declare your campaign type up front: Marketing/Promotional or Informational/Non-Marketing. Once you choose, the Campaign Use Case dropdown filters to show only options that align with your selection.

This early classification prevents you from accidentally mixing promotional offers with account notifications, a common cause of carrier scrutiny. It also removes granular legal jargon from your disclosures, keeping the language simple and reducing red flags during carrier review.

Financial + Marketing Conflict Prevention

Carriers frequently reject campaigns that combine marketing tactics with financial services or loan-related content. The pre-built flow detects this combination and prevents submission.

If you select Marketing/Promotional and then indicate your campaign involves financial services or loans, the system displays an in-app blocker. You must switch to Informational/Non-Marketing to proceed. This guardrail eliminates one of the highest-risk misclassification scenarios before your application reaches the carrier.

Important

If your campaign includes promotional offers and serves the financial industry, register it as Informational to avoid automatic rejection.

5

Automatic Age-Gating Enforcement

When you indicate that your campaign involves age-gated content or financial services/loan-related messaging, LeadConnector enforces age verification at the widget level. A mandatory Date of Birth field appears in the chat widget and cannot be removed.

Contacts cannot submit the widget form without confirming their date of birth, ensuring compliance with CTIA guidelines for restricted categories. This automatic enforcement removes the risk of forgetting to add age checks manually.

Auto-Generated Compliant Chat Widget

LeadConnector creates a fully functional, carrier-compliant chat widget tailored to your campaign. The widget includes:

Your business name — Injected automatically into the consent disclosure.
Frequency disclosure — States how often contacts can expect to receive messages.
Data rate disclaimer — Includes the required "Message & data rates may apply" language.
STOP and HELP instructions — Provides opt-out and help contact methods as mandated by carriers.
JavaScript embed code — Ready to copy and paste into your website footer or page body.

You can adjust the widget's color scheme and header text, but you cannot edit disclosure language, remove required fields, add consent checkboxes, or select alternative opt-in methods. This restriction ensures the live widget matches the carrier-approved registration exactly.

Locked Final Consent Review

Before you submit your campaign, the system presents a read-only consent review screen. This summary includes your auto-generated sample messages, a preview of your chat widget, and a website compliance checklist.

All fields are non-editable. You cannot change consent language, alter opt-in methods, or modify disclosures at this stage. The checklist confirms that your website is live, includes your Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, displays your business contact information, and has the widget embed code installed.

Because every detail is locked, carriers can verify that the registration application matches your live implementation — a key factor in fast approvals.

How to Set Up the Pre-Built A2P Campaign

Follow these steps to register a new SMS campaign using the widget-first flow.

Step 1
Navigate to A2P Messaging Registration

In your LeadConnector account, go to Settings → Phone Numbers → A2P Messaging Registration.

Step 2
Create a new campaign and choose the Pre-built option

Click Create Campaign and select Pre-built campaign (Chat Widget) from the registration flow options.

Step 3
Select your messaging use case

Choose either Marketing / Promotional or Informational / Non-Marketing. The Campaign Use Case dropdown will filter based on your selection.

Step 4
Answer the questionnaire

Respond to questions about financial content, age-gated content, and other campaign attributes. If you select conflicting options (e.g., Marketing + Financial Services), the system will display a blocker and prompt you to adjust your selections.

Step 5
Review and customize the widget preview

LeadConnector generates your chat widget automatically. You can adjust colors and the header text, but you cannot edit disclosure language or remove required fields.

Step 6
Complete the Website Compliance Checklist

Confirm that your website is live and publicly accessible, includes Terms of Service and Privacy Policy links, displays your business contact information, and has no mention of lead buying or affiliate marketing.

Step 7
Review and submit the locked consent screen

Verify all auto-generated details on the read-only consent review page. Click Submit when ready.

Step 8
Install the widget embed code

Copy the JavaScript embed code provided and paste it into the footer or body of the web page you confirmed during setup.

Step 9
Monitor campaign status

Track approval progress under Campaigns → Status. Widget-first submissions typically receive carrier approval within 48 hours.

Success Tip

Ensure your widget is live and publicly accessible before submitting your campaign. Carriers will verify the opt-in method is functional and matches your registration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I add an email field or custom checkbox to the auto-generated widget?
No. The widget-first flow intentionally restricts editable elements to ensure carrier-safe compliance. You cannot add email fields, consent checkboxes, or other custom inputs. If your campaign requires additional form fields, use the self-serve registration flow instead.
Q: Is the pre-built campaign flow available for mixed-use-case or sole-proprietor campaigns?
No. The widget-first flow is optimized for single-purpose campaigns — either Marketing/Promotional or Informational/Non-Marketing. If your campaign includes both promotional and transactional messages, or if you are registering as a sole proprietor, you must use the self-serve registration option.
Q: Does the Date of Birth field display on every widget?
No. The Date of Birth field only appears when you indicate that your campaign involves age-gated content or financial services/loan-related messaging during the questionnaire. For all other campaigns, the widget will not include a DOB field.
Q: What if my campaign includes both promotional offers and account notifications?
You will need to register two separate campaigns: one as Marketing/Promotional for offers, and one as Informational/Non-Marketing for account updates. Alternatively, use the self-serve registration flow to declare a mixed-use-case campaign.
Q: Will my campaign be rejected if the widget isn't embedded before I submit?
Yes. Carriers require the opt-in method to be live and publicly viewable at the time of submission. Install the widget embed code on your confirmed web page before clicking Submit to avoid delays or rejection.
Q: Can I clone an existing widget-first campaign to create a new one?
Campaign cloning is disabled for widget-first registrations to prevent accidental editing of locked compliance disclosures. Each campaign must be created from scratch through the guided flow.
Q: How long does carrier approval typically take for widget-first campaigns?
Widget-first submissions typically receive carrier approval within 48 hours, thanks to the pre-validated compliance language and locked configurations. Self-serve campaigns may take longer depending on the complexity and accuracy of manual disclosures.
Q: Can I switch from self-serve to widget-first registration after I start?
No. You must select your registration flow at the beginning of the campaign creation process. If you start with self-serve and want to use the widget-first option, you'll need to abandon the current draft and create a new campaign.
