Voice Geo Permissions for LeadConnector Phone System

Control which countries your team can call and manage international calling permissions by geographic region.
What You'll Learn

Voice Geo Permissions give you complete control over which countries your team members can call from the LeadConnector phone system. This feature helps prevent unauthorized international calls, manage costs, and ensure compliance with your business policies.

You'll learn how geo permissions work, how to configure them for your team, and best practices for managing international calling access.

1

What Are Voice Geo Permissions?

Voice Geo Permissions is a security and cost management feature that allows administrators to control which countries team members can call from the LeadConnector phone system. This feature provides granular control at both the account level and individual user level.

When geo permissions are configured, the system automatically blocks outbound calls to countries that are not explicitly allowed, preventing accidental or unauthorized international calls that could result in unexpected charges.

This feature integrates seamlessly with the LeadConnector phone system and applies to all outbound calling methods, including the dialer, click-to-call from contacts, and workflow-triggered calls.

Key Benefits

Voice Geo Permissions provide multiple advantages for managing your communication infrastructure:

Cost Control — Prevent unexpected charges from unauthorized international calls by restricting calling to specific countries or regions.
Security Enhancement — Reduce the risk of fraudulent calling activity by limiting geographic access to match your legitimate business needs.
Compliance Management — Ensure your team adheres to regulatory requirements and business policies regarding international communications.
Granular Control — Set different permissions for different users based on their roles and responsibilities within your organization.
Simplified Administration — Manage calling permissions from a centralized location without requiring complex phone system configurations.

How Voice Geo Permissions Work

Voice Geo Permissions operate on a two-tier system that provides flexibility while maintaining security:

Account-Level Permissions
Default Geographic Restrictions

Administrators set a default list of allowed countries at the account level. This establishes the baseline permissions that apply to all users unless overridden. Any country not on this list is automatically blocked for all outbound calls.

User-Level Permissions
Individual User Overrides

Administrators can assign specific country permissions to individual users. These user-level permissions override the account-level defaults, allowing you to grant expanded or restricted access based on individual roles and responsibilities.

Permission Hierarchy
How Permissions Are Applied

When a user attempts to place a call, the system first checks if user-level permissions exist. If they do, those permissions are applied. If no user-level permissions are configured, the system falls back to the account-level defaults. Calls to countries not included in the applicable permission set are blocked.

Important

Geo permissions apply immediately when configured. Users attempting to call blocked countries will receive an error message, and the call will not be completed.

How to Configure Geo Permissions

Follow these steps to set up account-level geo permissions for your LeadConnector phone system:

Step 1
Navigate to Phone System Settings

From your dashboard, go to Settings > Phone Numbers to access the phone system configuration area.

Step 2
Access Geo Permissions

Click on the Geo Permissions tab to view and manage country-level calling restrictions.

Step 3
Select Allowed Countries

In the Account Level Permissions section, select the countries you want to allow for outbound calling. You can search for countries by name or browse the complete list. Click on countries to add them to your allowed list.

Step 4
Save Your Configuration

After selecting all allowed countries, click Save to apply the account-level geo permissions. The restrictions take effect immediately for all users who do not have individual user-level permissions configured.

Confirmation

Once saved, all users will only be able to call the countries you've specified in the account-level permissions, unless they have specific user-level permissions that override these defaults.

Managing User-Level Permissions

For users who need different calling permissions than the account defaults, you can configure individual user-level geo permissions:

Step 1
Access User Management

Navigate to Settings > Team to view your team members.

Step 2
Select a User

Click on the user you want to configure custom geo permissions for. This opens their user profile and settings.

Step 3
Configure Geo Permissions

In the user settings, locate the Voice Geo Permissions section. Enable user-level permissions by toggling the switch, then select the countries this user should be allowed to call.

Step 4
Save User Permissions

Click Save to apply the user-specific geo permissions. These permissions will override the account-level defaults for this user only.

Note

To remove user-level permissions and revert a user back to the account defaults, toggle off the user-level permissions switch and save the changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What happens if a user tries to call a blocked country?
The call will not be completed, and the user will receive an error message indicating that the destination country is not permitted under their geo permissions. The blocked call attempt will be logged in your call history for administrative review.
Q: Do geo permissions affect inbound calls?
No, geo permissions only apply to outbound calls. Inbound calls from any country will still be received normally, regardless of your geo permission settings.
Q: Can I set different geo permissions for different teams?
Yes. While account-level permissions set the default for all users, you can configure individual user-level permissions for each team member. This allows you to grant specific users expanded or restricted calling access based on their role and responsibilities.
Q: How quickly do geo permission changes take effect?
Geo permission changes apply immediately after saving. Users will experience the updated restrictions on their next outbound call attempt.
Q: What countries should I include in my account-level permissions?
Include only the countries your business legitimately needs to call. At minimum, include the countries where your customers and prospects are located. You can always add additional countries later if your business needs change.
Q: Do geo permissions apply to automated calls from workflows?
Yes, geo permissions apply to all outbound calling methods, including workflow-triggered calls, manual dialer calls, and click-to-call from contact records. This ensures comprehensive protection across all calling scenarios.
Q: Can I temporarily grant a user access to call a specific country?
Yes. Configure user-level permissions for that team member to include the additional country. When the temporary access is no longer needed, remove the user-level permissions or modify them to exclude that country. The user will then revert to the account-level defaults.
Q: Who can configure geo permissions?
Only users with administrator permissions can configure both account-level and user-level geo permissions. This ensures that calling restrictions are managed by authorized personnel only.
